Special Occasions with Ruby Rock-It

If you haven't checked out the Ruby Rock-It/ Some Odd Girl Stamps combined blog hop yet, make sure you head to this post:
Blog hop post

You have until Saturday night to enter. Meanwhile I have some other new work up on the Ruby Rock-It blog to share...

This month for my Ruby Rock-It assignment I have been asked to work on our "Special Occasion" theme. This is where we get to focus on a particular even going on around us, and show a way to showcase that in our crafting. Obvious, this month being Mother's Day both here in Australia as well as in the States, this was the perfect event to commemorate.

I hardly ever seem to end up in the camera shot with all of my kids, so being Mother's Day I requested we take some shots especially. Can you believe that this was only the second or third shot we took. I am so lucky to have very photogenic children. I really love this precious photo..so much in fact that you may notice I used it on a Memory Maze layout as well. I couldn't resist.

So, I found this small plastic gumball machine at the local thrift store. I had been wanting to make one of these for ages, so it was a great find. I'm so happy with the way this turned out. I'm thinking I may take it to work to sit on my desk.

I have used used the apricot colours from the Oriental Chic range, along with the blue flowers that match, along with some additional birds from one of the Fundamentals decoupage papers.

Sweet Lullaby with Heartfelt Creations

This week on the Heartfelt Creations blog I have a baby layout to share. This is when Amelie was just a couple of hours old.

I did some work to the patterned paper base before starting this layout. I tore out a feature section, and added some ink and some texture paste through a stencil.

The filagree section here is the base of the baby carriage die, plus a few matching flowers of course.

I've used a new Spellbinder fancy doe as a photo matt and made the booties from the die set which have been embossed in pink.

This week I really love Karan Gerber's baby gift bag. It's so sweet, and really shows off the new stamps.

Celebrating Mothers with Memory Maze.

This week I have had some new projects shared on the Memory Maze blog. This month we were asked to cover the theme of Mothers, in line with Mother's Day not so long ago. You can see the Memory Maze blog for more details on how I altered the chipboard.  Here's what I came up with.

I have used a photo taken of me with my babies on Mother's Day. Sadly we don't have many of us, and even fewer with Michael in there as well. Really need to do something about it.

This first one is using a 12x12 piece as a background. I have done this before and loved it, so I couldn't wait to try again with a different design.

Next up, is a layout of my little princess and I.

Finally I have a layout featuring my little girl. This layout was created for a project kit available at www.acrafterspassion.com who stock lots of Memory Maze products in Rockhampton Qld.

Sweet, sweet baby collection | Heartfelt Creations.

Today I have a quick little share for you using the gorgeous new collection from Heartfelt Creations called Sweet Lullaby. This is one of the sweetest little baby collections I have seen in a while, and the dies are just perfect. It took me about half a second to figure out what I wanted to make once I saw this set. They say great minds think alike, and it was funny to see some of the other designers had the same idea, but even so we each came up with a project with our own style.

Did you notice the perfect little flower dies in this set. So cute!

Make sure you go and see the blog of course for more gorgeous projects, including a sweet, sweet card by Penny O'Dell. See those little booties. How awesome do they look!

A Heartfelt card

This week I have a new card on the Heartfelt Creations blog. I made this with one of the brand new Spellbinder dies as a background.  I love the delicate pattern of the die.

The Heartfelt Creations sentiment stamp was a perfect fit for the inside of the die cut, and the little aster flowers are so sweet.

My favourite pick from the designers this week is a soft and sweet tag from Kathy Roney. The colours are just perfect.

Not long til the next collection is released. You can see a peek over on the blog. It is a beautiful baby range.

May blog hop with Ruby Rock-It

Hello Ruby Rock-it Fans!  Welcome to our first blog hop with our new RR Creative Team!
This month, our designers have been creating their hearts out!  Some of their projects will be highlighting our featured products for this month: Heritage & Oriental Chic!

For this project, I found a heart key box at Kmart. It was already painted white which is perfect, as I usually start these kind of projects with a white base anyway.

I then did lots of fussy cutting of the pretty floral patterns and used them as a base for building clusters along with co-ordinating die cut tags, stickers, wood veneers and florals. I also added some leaves, ribbons, and metal charms to finish off.

The white flower and butterfly are gesso painted metal.

The black heart is actually a blackboard.

Lots of fussy cutting and layering

A cluster was created on the top with die cut shapes, fussy cut flowers, florals and 3D butterfly stickers.

The inside of the box has tiny hooks that I will hang my daughters hair ribbons on. The whole cabinet can be fixed to the wall of her room.

Ruby Rock-It products used:
Heritage paper collection
Heritage Florals
Heritage Die Cut pad
Heritage 3D stickers
Heritage cardstock stickers

Here's what do to...in order to have a chance to win our Oriental Chic collection!

More from Heartfelt Creations

This week I have two projects to share from the Heartfelt Creations blog.

First up I made a little box for storing Passports. We have 6 passports between 5 of us, so it is very important to be able to keep them all in one place. I have used the Celebrate the Journey collection for this one. I love the little hints of pink in this otherwise quite masculine paper line.

... and a close up of some of the details

Next up I have a card using the lovely Floral dress stamp. This was very easy to put together since the stamp has everything you need. I simply made it more dimensional by layering additional pieces to the flowers, boots dress skirt and title. This stamp is also part of the Celebrate the Journey collection.

This week on the blog, you can see beautiful work from the Design Team as usual, but also a sneak peek of the new line for next month called Sweet Lullaby. It's a gorgeous baby range. Be sure to take a look at Jenny Garlick's beautiful journal (and sadly one of the last projects for the team). All the best Jenny for your travel plans.
