Recipe board with Ruby Rock-It

Today I am working with one of the new paper collections from Ruby Rock-It called Grandma's Kitchen. It is full of fun retro colours and images, and some fun little florals just begging to be fussy cut.
I started out with this cute little wooden board that I picked up somewhere long ago,

Step 1:  Swipe Gesso sparingly across the middle of the board to ground the  design.

Step 2: Sponge extra Gesso over the top to create a textured effect.

Step 3: To create a place for little recipe cards fold a piece of gingham paper from the collection around 4 inches high. Use  a border punch to add interest to the top, but also line it with white paper  to allow to punched design to stand out from the busy pattern.

Step 4: Adhere the pocket to the board with a double layer of foam dots to create dimension. To the front of the pocket, adhere two journaling tags and a sentiment tag.

Step 5: Fussy cut a bunch of florals, and shape with a stylus.  Adhere around the sentiment and the journaling tags using foam dots.

Step 6:Take a large Bella! floral and cut in half and tuck under the opposite sides of the pocket. Take a smaller flower and adhere extra glue to the centre, then cinch tightly to form a full dimensional flower. Adhere this to the right side of the pocket.

Step 7: Use a leaf punch, a die cut, or pre-made leaves and tuck in among all the floral clusters.  Apply dimensional paint dots in rows along the horizontal lines of the design.

Supplies used:
