A Heartfelt Creations mini canvas.

So, some of you know that while I was at CHA recently, I participating in a mixed media canvas class. Well I went against my creative instincts in an effort to be a good co-operative student, and decided not to change something that I really knew would not work. As expected, the outcome was hideous,...so much so, that I did not bring it home with me.  Here it is. Yuck right. Now let me be clear, it is not the fault of the teacher or company who ran the class, it's because I didn't change out that awful black tissue paper.

I did make a promise though to try again...and I have. Well sort of. The scale is a little different, but I trusted my instincts this time, and I am so much happier with the outcome. Now I decided to go a little (OK, a lot) smaller this time, in case I might embarrass myself again. This little tiny restoration in anyone's faith in my artistic ability is only around 5 inches square. I will be sure to go a little bigger next time.

So, here is what I have come up with. Of course using Heartfelt Creations for this one, pretty much guaranteed that I would not suck at this a second time. How could I possibly go wrong with this collection. So here it is....my Birds and Blooms mini canvas, complete with gesso, glitter paste, stenciling, painting, drywall tape, stamping, die cutting, and glitter. Wow, that's a lot of technique for one little project.

Now, I hope you will agree that this is far better. Not quite the same techniques, but a mixed media canvas none the less, just this time I stuck to my instincts and my own style.

Meanwhile, check out the rest of the designers on the blog post this week over at Heartfelt Creations, plus the full instructions for this little piece. I really love the banner that Kathy Clement has created this week.

Ruby Rock -It/ Bella!  have four new wedding themed releases at the moment. Today I am playing with this pretty yellow based collection called Get Hitched.

The papers are all shimmery and come with a whole line of  embellishments including stamps.

Heartfelt Creations- February release

So, I am now back home after an exhausting, but great week at CHA where this new collection was released. It was so amazing to meet the Heartfelt Creations family and some of the incredible designers that I am so lucky to with with and for.

The booth looked so great. I'd seen all the samples before online, but seeing them in real life really is even better, and of course it is so exciting to see many of my samples up on display amongst such great company.

So, this is one of the samples that I had on display. The little birds and the tiny flowers are so cute.

Happy New Year with Ruby Rock-It | Alicia Barry|

Another year gone already! Today I am sharing with a you a quick little project made for a New Year's party. I have used glitter cardstock as a base for a little party hat, with left over tinsel from the Christmas tree for fast and easy sparkle. I have used a tag shape cut from wedding paper. For the large clock, I used an imprint card sprayed with paint mist, then trimmed. The smaller clock is a sticker from the Year in Review was very simple and quick to make, which is perfect if you need to make a whole bunch of them.

Happy New Year!!!

I hope everyone had a good New Year.

This week on the Heartfelt Creations blog, I have another card to show using Romantique Garden. Not long now though until I can start sharing the new Birds and Blooms collection. You can see a sneak peek of it on the  blog this week, then it will be released at CHA NEXT week. Less than a week now until I leave. I'm really looking forward to meeting Linda, Emma Lou, Harlan and the rest of the Heartfelt Creations team in real life.

Meanwhile, back to my card. I really love the bleeding hearts blossoms with this collection. I used watercolour pencils with a teeny tiny paintbrush to colour the image. This was a really quick way to do it, and I really like the finished effect.

I really like Maureen's work this week, it's a really nice pale colour scheme.
