I really love creating beyond the page projects and this month I thought I would share some simple instructions on how I made this very easy altered clipboard that I found at my local office supply store. I have again used the beautiful Heritage paper range, along with a stunning new Spellbinder die.
A little wad of notepaper could be added to the clip for a functional piece, or a photo could be clipped in and out at will treating the clipboard as an interchangeable photo frame display.
Ink the edges of the clipboard where the paper may not cover. Pay extra attention to the area around the metal clip.
Cut a piece of patterned paper to fit, but tracing the clipboard onto the back of the paper. Once cut, measure the space around the metal clip, and remove a rectangular piece to fit. I recommend, a clean rectangular rather than trying to make it fit exactly, as this may look messy if it is not an exact fit. (hence, the inking in step 1. Adhere the paper in place.
Die cut a decorative shape onto white cardstock, and adhere in place. (adhere in the centre only, leave the outer edges free).
Fussy cut some floral sections from the patterned paper. Arrange the floral pieces on the opposite corners of the clipboard, tucked under the main die cut, along with a patterned die cut. Use some foam dots to elevate the outer parts of the flowers.
Embellish the corners of the clipboard, by layering Heritage paper florals, along with Spellbinder bitty blossoms spiral flowers. The lower cluster has a tied ribbon bow tucked under the large flower, and both clusters include Spellbinder Foliage Flourishes made from co-ordinating patterned paper.
Finally I added a butterfly sticker (raised on foam dots) to the bottom cluster and added some 3D butterfly stickers to both the top and bottom.
